Hi, I'm Emily
PT, DPT, CCRT
Owner of Kinetic Canine
I am currently a physical therapist in Winchester, VA, but grew up on a farm in southwest Virginia. From an early age, I have always had a passion for caring for animals. Ultimately, I decided to go into a field in human healthcare, but was always hopeful that I could somehow use my knowledge to help animals as well. My first year of Physical Therapy school, it all clicked. In one of our lectures, I watched upperclassmen present their capstone project which happened to be centered on rehabilitating one of our professor's dogs. Immediately I knew THAT was what I wanted to do when I grew up.

After graduating from PT school and settling into my first job (working at a traditional outpatient orthopedic clinic), I began my journey with Canine Rehabilitation Institute. Over the next few years, I attended several in-person continuing education lectures and labs where I trained alongside veterinarians and grew my knowledge and hands-on experience with canine patients.

I am so excited to bring those skills to Winchester and the surrounding area, and begin treating our canine friends!

Education
2022-2023
Canine Rehabilitation Institute
I achieved my certification to treat canines (CCRT) through CRI. With their program, I completed 4 Modules involving an introduction to veterinary rehabilitation, clinical skills, clinical applications and an internship. My training focused on a balanced treatment approach, combining both manual therapy and therapeutic exercise to optimize patient outcomes with orthopedic and/or neurological conditions.
2013-2019
Shenandoah University
I attended Shenandoah for both undergraduate and graduate school. As an undergraduate student, I majored in Biology before furthering my education in their Doctorate of Physical Therapy Program.
